We have a lot of firsts this week…
Tuesday, we start with M., the occupational therapist. She is going to work with us on getting Hannah accepting solid foods (she still has the automatic tongue thrust when we try to feed her), drinking her bottle without having it dribble out of her mouth like a fountain, and help us with anything else she thinks we need to work on.
Wednesday, Hannah has her Auditory Brainstem Response test (ABR). That is the sedated hearing test I talked about a few weeks ago. We have to be there at 8:45 AM, so I’ll probably leave the house at 6:45 AM just to be safe! What really sucks is that I’m supposed to “keep her awake all morning” (yeah right!), feed her the last formula bottle at 3 AM (yeah, so she’ll be screaming her head off around 7:00 AM when she is starving), but we can feed her a pedialyte at 7:00 AM (which she has never had before, so I don’t even know if she will take it!). And if they are sedating her, why does it matter if she stays awake before or not? Can you tell I’m not looking forward to this?
Oh yeah, and I have a root canal on Thursday morning – oh joy…
I have to be honest. I’ve often stopped by your blog and read about your little girl. I know, shame on me for not commenting. I guess I didn’t know what to say. My prayers and thoughts go out to your little girl and your family. You are such amazing people. Your little one is so lucky to have special parents like you guys. Good luck this week with your crazy schedule. I hope you get good news. Thanks so much for your kind comments regarding my sick 4 year old. She is finally feeling better today. I can finally sleep tonight. Yippie!
Michelle’s last blog post..We’ve Been Invaded. Sorry To My Top Commenters and Entrecard Droppers
Sending lots of hugs for your week ahead.
Hi, Carrie. I came to visit after the comment you made on my post at 5 Minutes for Special Needs. I was sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through, but glad to come here and hear that wonderful video of Hannah laughing and see for myself just how adorable she is. And, she is. That smile! Those cheeks!
I am glad you are getting OT this week, the therapists really can work wonders. Max had therapy when he was an infant, too, and I think it really helped him progress (he has cerebral palsy as a result of a stroke at birth).
Good luck with the ABR test tomorrow.

Good luck with OT today, we LOVE Josslyn’s therapists!! It really took a long time for Josslyn to accept solids and drink a bottle with a good suck-they showed me so many awesome tools to help her be more efficient. Good luck tomorrow also and all of the upcomming appointments. P.S. Hannah could drink any clear liquids(not just pedialyte) at 7 or before 7, Josslyn really likes gatorade, otherwise you could dilute some apple juice or white grape juice-that’s a nummy one too. 🙂 (I don’t understand why she’d have to stay awake for that long either…) Give her hugs from Joss and I, we think of you all often!
