Nighttime Congestion

Hannah has always had some type of nighttime sleeping issues similar to snoring.  However, over the last few weeks, it has gotten to be more bothersome for her.  Over the last few nights, she has gotten so uncomfortable to the point where she wakes herself up.   The weird thing is that she doesn’t APPEAR to have any congestion during the day…clear nose and all.

Of course I’m all paranoid about sleep apnea and breathing difficulties since those are “on the list” for the neurological issues of GD23.

I’m going to see if I can take her into the pediatrician this morning to see if he can hear any congestion in her lungs and take it from there.

My 8 month old son has similar sleeping issues. He has since he was born. We (his ped and I) think it might be some form of reflux. If he lays flat for an extended period of time, his breathing starts to sound gurgley for lack of a better description. And he wakes up frequently. An old expired now resides in the pack-and-play in our room and this is where he happily sleeps (and breathes better).

Aidan does that too – when he lays on his back (still at almost 4) it is like his tongue goes to the back of his throat and closes it off. So he sounds like Darth Vadar, then startles awake, then back to sleep. I usually try to roll him on his side. I think he will end up getting his adenoids out. Way worse when he has a cold (like now). Good luck and let’s hope it has nothing to do with GD.

Maybe you need a sleep positioner so she can stay more on her side?
