We had Hannah’s birthday party this weekend, and it went off without a hitch! Our friend’s hosted the party at their house, and my in-laws provided all of the food and the fantastic Mickey and Minnie beach party cake (with the exception of some amazing ribs cooked by our host!).
We ended up having about 15 or so adults and about 10 or so kids. The older kids spent the afternoon in the pool, and Hannah and her two friends (Bertrand and Jobyna) spent time hanging out together inside the house. It was very comforting being able to all talk together with the other parents about our situations face-to-face in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
I loved being able to see Bertrand again, and I am so touched that they made the journey from out of state to be at Hannah’s party! The last time I saw him was back at the NIH in 2009! Even though I have seen pictures of him over the last two years, being able to see him in person made my entire day. I love this little boy, and he just looks so much like a boy now and lost his toddler look! And to be able to be with little Victoria — ahhh!!! Baby fever was running rampant at the party with her around.
Hannah was all full of smiles at the party. Whether it was Cristina, Bertrand’s mommy, holding her, getting lots of love and attention from her 2-1/2-year-old cousin, or just hanging in the arms of her grandmother, she was just a happy girl. It was as if she knew the party was for her!
When it was time to blow the candles on the cake, Abby, Ethan, her cousins, and the kids of our friends all blew it out for her. It just seemed like the right thing to do. After all, all of these kids have become so important in Hannah’s life!
It really was a perfect party. It just reminded me yet again of the amazing people that Hannah has in her life!
Sounds like a beautiful day and perfect celebration!!! Love the cake!!!
